The Life of an Artist is OH-So Glamorous! ;)
Ohhhhhh, I played SUCH a trick on myself!
And it ain’t even April Fool’s Day yet.
So, for 2 weeks now, I’ve been down to the wire in preparing for my art show (“Everything Old is New Again“) at Lunaria Gallery (Silverton, Oregon), for the month of March — delivery date of Feb 28th.
Yesterday, I knew I had to sit in the gallery all day, and today I knew I was to teach 45+ women how to paint — an hour away.
SO, last night, I kicked my creative butt into gear, and finished five cabinet door art pieces, drew a mandala on the top of a table, prepared all the canvases for the art class, and made 50 bundles of 5/each paint brushes — oh, and I filled up the gas tank, and made sure I had enough table cloths, paper towels, cups and plates (for the class). Got to bed at a responsible midnight, set my alarm for 8:00, took my melatonin, and went to sleep.
Got up, did the porcelain throne thang, Facebooked from the throne, polyurethaned the table and all five (plus the other one, so six) cabinet doors, got all the art supplies to the car, gathered up extra easels, made sure the grandfather clock is working (yes! whew! see the video!), went for a run, lifted weights, got the polyurethaned pieces UPstairs (2 at a time, so 4 trips), showered, got (appropriately) dressed, did make-up, did hair, fixed and ate breakfast … and sat down to check emails (to get the address to whence I am going) … ALL ON TIME (mind you) … and I found an email from the paint-party hostess … saying how excited she was to have this paint-party … TOMORROW…!
Tomorrow?!?
Was she mistaken?
Had she bumped her head?
Did she compose the email prior to midnight?
I grabbed my calendar … and lo and BEhold … sure ’nuff … the paint-party is on Saturday. Tomorrow. It was there in black and white the whole dang time.
Sheeeeeeeeesh ..!
So here I sit, all gussied-up, and good-smelling, and adrenaline-charged and EVERYthang … all cleaned up and nowhere to go.
Sheeeeeeeeesh…!
Ok, ok, this officially makes up for ALL the times in which I’ve run late … because I managed to *somehow* be 24 HOURS EARLY!!!
Paint/polyurethane-fumes … I am blaming this on the paint/polyurethane-fumes. Or some planet done and went retrograde. Or the Madam Ghost changed my calendar on me.
Sheeeeeeeeesh…!
Well … at least I AM ready for tomorrow.
(& REALLY glad I checked my calendar before whipping out a “you’re so funny/mistaken – I’m on my way” email reply!)
I’m gonna do a vlog about vertigo (since I’m all camera-ready), and then I’m gonna get into my “uniform” (my paint-splattered sweats), and do MORE painting…!
Why not?
